Bevy Apps

Privacy Policy

Bevybound by Bevy Apps. Last updated October 20, 2026.

The short version

  • Bevybound has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We don't sell or share your information.
  • Your trips are stored on your device and, when you share a trip, in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Bevy Apps can't read your trips.
  • Only the people you invite can see a trip.
  • A few features look things up on the internet (maps, weather, links you paste). They send only what's needed, never your name or trip.

This policy covers the Bevybound app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, its widgets, and this website. "We" and "us" mean Bev McGhee, the developer of Bevybound, publishing as Bevy Apps.

What we collect

Bevy Apps does not run servers that store your trips, and we don't collect personal information through the app. We don't use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools from other companies.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply.

If Apple shares crash reports or usage statistics with developers because you turned that on in your device settings, we see them in anonymous form through Apple.

What stays on your device

Bevybound saves your trips, places, plans, check-ins and settings on your device. Trip files are encrypted while your device is locked.

  • Photos you add to Memories, your profile picture, cover photos, packing lists and event guest rules stay on your device and aren't uploaded.
  • Importing a document (PDF, photo, scan or pasted text) happens entirely on your device, using Apple Intelligence where available. The document is never uploaded.
  • The trip recap is made on your device. If you allow it, Bevybound reads photos from your trip dates near the trip's city to include them. It only reads them; nothing is copied or uploaded.
  • Saving a photo to your library asks only for permission to add photos.
  • Reminders are created on your device and say only things like "You have a plan at 7:30 PM", so your Lock Screen doesn't show trip details.
  • Widgets, the Lock Screen activity and the Apple Watch app get a short summary of your upcoming trip from the app on your device. The watch receives it directly from your paired iPhone.

iCloud and sharing

When you share a trip, it's stored in iCloud with Apple's CloudKit: in your private iCloud database if you created it, and in each member's shared database if they joined. Trip details are stored in encrypted fields. Whether Apple can also decrypt them depends on your iCloud settings (Advanced Data Protection).

  • Trips are invite-only by default. The person who created a trip adds people by phone number or email, and only they can join, even if an invite link is forwarded. The creator can choose to let anyone with the link join.
  • Everyone in a trip can see its places, plans, stay details, bookings, expenses, votes and who suggested what.
  • The invite itself is named "Bevybound trip" rather than the city, because invite names aren't encrypted.
  • Your Apple ID is used to identify you to your group through iCloud. We never see your password.

Services the app contacts

Some features need the internet. They send the least information they can and never include your name, account or other trip details.

FeatureServiceWhat is sent
Maps, place search, directions, travel timesApple MapsSearches, map areas and the start and end of each route
Typical weather, rain planOpen-MeteoThe trip's approximate location (rounded to about a mile) and dates
Links and Google Docs you pasteThe website you linkedA normal page request, like opening the link in a browser
Popular places (off unless you turn it on)Apple CloudKit public databaseAn anonymous "+1" for a public place when you check in. Never your stay, your group, your trip or the time
Add to CalendarYour iCloud calendarThe plans you choose to add, in a "Bevybound" calendar in iCloud (never Google, Outlook or work calendars)

Permissions

Bevybound asks for each permission only when you use the feature, and works without them:

  • Location (while using the app): shows where you are on the map and starts directions from you.
  • Camera: scans receipts and documents.
  • Photos: reads trip-date photos for the recap (if you allow it) and adds photos you save.
  • Calendars: finds your iCloud account to add plans; it never reads your other events.
  • Notifications: reminders before plans, arrivals and group votes.

Your choices and deleting data

  • Remove a trip from your device: in My Trips, touch and hold the trip, then remove it.
  • Delete a trip for everyone: the person who created it can delete it from Crew. This removes it from iCloud.
  • Leave a trip: members can leave from Crew; the trip stays for everyone else.
  • Delete everything: delete the app. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Bevybound.
  • You can turn off Popular places, reminders and every permission at any time in the app or in Settings.

Children

Bevybound is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Families can plan trips together using Apple's Family Sharing and parental controls.

Purchases

If Bevybound offers paid features, purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
